PRIVACY AT VENUSTAI

Your ideas.
Your privacy.

Clear choices for your data, without limiting the library.

Updated September 30, 2026
Visitor analytics only with your permission

We keep daily, identifier-free totals of download clicks and prompt copies unless you turn these counts off. Separate visitor analytics, including Google Analytics, starts only if you accept it. Both choices can be changed at any time.

Your account and saved library

When you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your basic profile and email address with our authentication provider, Supabase. We use these details to create your account. We do not request access to your email messages, files, or contacts.

Your saved images, Hero Builder creations, private boards, and display name are stored in Supabase and linked to your account. Database access rules restrict these records to your account. Uploaded images in account saves use private storage and temporary access links. Removing a hero archives it; contact us to permanently delete creations and uploads. Signing in does not subscribe you to marketing or grant analytics consent.

“More your style” matches your saved backgrounds and any collection styles you explicitly choose with catalog themes, tags, and mood. Matching happens in your browser. We do not build a browsing-history profile or send your library to an external recommendation service. Generic suggestions are labeled “Explore these collections.” Recommendations do not subscribe you to email, and downloads remain free without an account.

Your browser stores the session needed to keep you signed in. Signing out removes that session on this device; it does not delete your saved library. To request a copy of your account data or account deletion, email [email protected].

Who we are

Backgrounds is operated by VenustAI. This policy covers backgrounds.venust.ai, including the image library, Hero Builder and enquiry page. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].

What stays on your device

Hero Builder saves your draft in your browser’s local storage so you can return to it. This may include the words you type, image selections and design settings. Uploaded images are not included in this automatic working draft. Explicitly saving a named creation on this device stores its image in your browser too. Explicitly saving to your account uploads it to private Supabase storage. Design text and uploaded images are never included in analytics.

Your light or dark appearance preference is also saved on this device. It is used only to remember how you want the library to look.

Optional collection-style choices are stored on this browser, separately for each signed-in account. Only the chosen collection IDs and whether you skipped the picker are stored; these choices do not sync across devices. You can change or reset them in your library. We also remember a dismissed library invitation on this device until you clear the site’s storage. If browser storage is unavailable, these choices last only for the current visit. Studio emails have a separate signup in the footer and never open automatically after a download.

We also store your visitor-analytics choice, policy version and expiry date locally for up to 180 days. If you turn off anonymous asset counts, this browser stores that objection so we can honor it. Neither preference is sent as an identifier. You can remove local drafts and preferences through your browser’s site-data settings. Clearing site data also removes saved work and resets your choices.

Anonymous asset counts

We count clicks on image and prompt downloads, and successful copies of original prompts, by catalog asset and day. These counts help us decide what to make next. They continue if you reject visitor analytics, unless you turn off anonymous asset counts in Privacy choices. Downloads and copying work with either choice.

The request contains only the asset and theme IDs, the action, and the file format for downloads. Our database increments a daily total immediately. It does not store an individual event, browser ID, account, email, IP address, prompt text, page URL or referrer with these counts. The hosting provider still processes normal connection information to deliver the request. We do not send these counts to Google. They are click counts, not completed file transfers or counts of unique people.

Optional visitor analytics

With your consent, our own analytics database and Google Analytics record page views, navigation clicks, image and prompt download clicks, successful prompt copies and selected Hero Builder actions. This is separate from the anonymous asset counts above.

Our database stores a random browser ID alongside each consented event, its time and a limited set of page, theme, asset, format or preset values. This lets us see which backgrounds and features are useful, and count activity from the same consenting browser. It is not a verified identity or an account. We do not attach your enquiry or newsletter email to this ID. The ID is stored on your device only while analytics is accepted and is removed when you reject or withdraw consent. Previously collected events remain until their retention period ends or a valid deletion request is handled.

Google uses first-party cookies to distinguish browser visits and measure sessions. These are browser identifiers, not accounts identifying you by name. Google also processes technical information such as browser, device and approximate location. Requests to Google expose your IP address as part of the network connection.

Our custom event data is limited to known page paths, catalog asset and theme IDs, file formats, and fixed layout or preset choices. A download click indicates intent; it does not prove that a file finished downloading. We do not record the content of copied prompts; only that a copy succeeded.

Our custom events exclude enquiry text, names, email addresses, search terms, custom hero copy, uploaded files and full link URLs. We strip query strings and fragments from the page locations we send. Advertising consent stays off, and our tag disables Google signals and advertising personalization. We do not add session recordings or fingerprinting tools.

Our analytics cookies use the venust_backgrounds_ prefix, are scoped to this subdomain and expire after up to 180 days without extending their expiry on each visit. Google may process information outside your country. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google Analytics uses data.

Your choice

You can accept or reject visitor analytics without losing access to downloads or tools. Use “Privacy choices” in the footer to change either preference at any time. Rejecting visitor analytics stops future visitor-level events; anonymous asset counts continue unless you also turn them off. Withdrawing visitor-analytics consent disables further collection by our Google tag and our visitor-event endpoint, removes the random browser ID and clears this site’s analytics cookies. Changing a choice cannot recall data already received.

Preferences apply to this browser. Changing the visitor-analytics provider, data uses or consent version requires a new visitor-analytics choice. Without an accepted, current choice, visitor-level events are dropped rather than saved for later. Turning off anonymous counts stops future count requests from this browser.

Project enquiries

When you submit a project enquiry, your name, email address, selected service and brief are stored in our Supabase database. We also try to forward the enquiry through FormSubmit to [email protected] as an inbox alert. We use these details to respond and discuss your project. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

Do not include sensitive personal information in a project brief. Contact us if you would like to access, correct or request deletion of information you have sent us. Some records may need to be retained for legal or business obligations.

The enquiry and studio-update forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check for automated abuse. Its browser challenge may process your IP address and other technical signals; our server checks the resulting token with Cloudflare before storing a submission. This protection is separate from optional analytics. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Studio updates

If you choose to subscribe to The VenustAI Edit, we store your email address, the consent wording and version, the request date, and the page and signup placement in Supabase. We also try to forward the request through FormSubmit to our inbox. We use the record to maintain our mailing list and send studio insights, product updates and new releases. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing [email protected]. Newsletter permission is separate from optional analytics permission.

Supabase stores the submitted records and processes normal connection information when the forms are submitted. FormSubmit receives the submitted fields when our inbox alert is attempted; it documents a 30-day submission archive. Emailed copies remain in our business inbox until removed. See FormSubmit’s privacy policy. We do not load either provider’s scripts or send your form fields while you browse or type. Names, addresses and message contents are not included in our analytics events. Our form tables do not grant visitors permission to read submitted records.

Hosting and external sites

Delivering a website requires network requests. Hosting and infrastructure providers may process technical request information such as IP addresses, browser information and requested files for delivery, security and troubleshooting. This is separate from the optional analytics described above.

Links to VenustAI, its restaurant site, Instagram and other external destinations are governed by those sites’ privacy practices. Following a link may disclose normal connection and referrer information to the destination. This library does not control their data collection.

Retention and changes

Browser drafts remain until replaced or removed, and visitor-analytics consent preferences expire after 180 days. The anonymous-count objection remains until you turn counts back on or clear site data. Aggregate daily counts have no visitor records; we retain them to compare long-term interest in themes. We remove event-level records in our visitor-analytics database after 13 months. We retain enquiry and signup records while they are needed for correspondence, consent evidence and applicable business obligations; contact us for access or deletion requests. The Google Analytics property currently keeps event data for 2 months and user data for 14 months, renewing that user period on new activity. Cookie expiry and removal do not delete reports already received by Google; aggregated reports can remain longer than individual event records. Contact us for questions about retention or a data request.

We will update the date above when this policy changes. Questions or concerns? Contact [email protected].
